Anything but a Card Blog Hop
WELCOME, to VC Rock's July Blog Hop! All the blogs participating this weekend will be featuring projects that are not cards -- be sure to check out all the blogs to see the great projects everyone has in store for you.
If you are following the Blog Hop from the VC Rocks' Home Blog, you came from the very talented Elaine Wright's blog. Doesn't she do fantastic work? I just love her projects. If you are visiting my blog as part of your normal routine or a friend or family member and this is the first stop on the blog hop for you, you can start at the beginning by going to the VC Rock's Home Blog here.

My first project is a glass paperweight. I belong to a bulk buy group and recently we were able to purchase these great 2" paperweights.
I stamped the second smallest doily from the Delicate Doilies Stamp Set from the New 2011-2012 Idea Book & Catalog using Island Indigo (one of the New In-Colors this year). I stamped the butterfly from the Cottage Garden Stamp Set in Calypso Coral (another New In-Color) and attached it to the doily using Snail Adhesive. I adhered the Doily to Calypso Coral card stock and attached it to the paperweight using Crystal Effects.
I applied Sticky Strip to the edge of the paperweight. Colored Whisper White grosgrain ribbon with an Island Indigo marker and added it to the edge. I then attached a strip of 1/8" Marina Mist Taffeta Ribbon to the edge using Snail Adhesive.
The completed paperweight is showcased in the box and can be given as a gift for any occasion.
My second project is a pendant for a necklace using a 1" square glass fragment (from the bulk buy purchase). I coordinated the pendant with the paperweight by stamping the small flowers from the Cottage Garden stamp set in matching colors. To complete the pendant, I wrapped wire around the pendant and attached it to a choker necklace and a fine gold link chain.
The Stampin' Up! Build-A-Bear is wearing the pendant on the fine gold link chain. Isn't she adorable!
In addition, I made this cute gift envelope to put the pendant in. I used the Envelope from the Bitty Box and Envelope Die and the Big Shot Die Cutting Machine.
Now for the fun -- BLOG CANDY. Please leave me a comment and let me know which project you enjoyed the most. I will be using a Random Number Generator to choose the lucky winner. Would you like to know what the candy is? It is a clear mount stamp set from Stampin' Up! called Afterthoughts.
Thank you for visiting my blog today and I hope you have enjoyed the projects I have created.

ReplyDeleteI love both of these items, can't choose one. What great little gifts both of these would make. thanks so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI love the paperweight, no I love the necklace, no I love the paperweight. I just can't pick. They are both wonderful. I don't need to win the candy but really wanted to let you know I love what you have done.

I love them both and I don't need the blog candy or regular candy for that matter, hehehe, thanks for hopping.....
ReplyDeleteBrenda what great ideas! Love the packaging that you created for each of them--it really finishes them off in a classy way! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteSis, again you out did yourself. Love them both but I like the paper weight the most. Love those bulk buy items. LOL Thanks for sharing your amazing talent.
ReplyDeleteOh me, oh my ... fantastic projects! I am amazed at your creativity! The packaging ideas are a great as the projects themselves! Thanx so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWow! You expect us to choose??? BOTH!!! and the packaging too. You did good! Extra creative on the packaging too.
ReplyDeleteI'm always up for Blog Candy!
Brenda:
ReplyDeleteI simply cannot choose between these, they are both SO creative and pretty! Love that you used your bear as a model; I'll have to try that idea sometime with mine!
what a cool idea with the paperweight. So talented! Love the packaging.
ReplyDeleteI love the pendant. I'd love more details -- were the edges of the glass square already smooth or did you have to do something to it and how did you attach your image to the the glass? I'm imagining that you attached it directly to the glass (but how without adhesive showing through)and that the back is open (i.e. cardstock is exposed). But I could be totally wrong! As you can probably tell, I'd love to CASE this idea!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the wonderful ideas for the bulk buy items. I got some of these as well and hadn't quite decided what to do with them. Now I know. TFS! However, now I will have to be getting the Bitty Box and envelope die. Didn't think I would use it before, but now I know I will for these, so it will have to be on my next order. (my pocket book does not thank you - LOL!)

Oh my goodness, what neat gift ideas--and terrific packaging, too! It's hard to choose a favorite, but I have to say the paperweight by a smidge. . . It's so distinctive.
ReplyDeleteI really like all of your projects. My favorite thing is how you put indigo, pool, and coral together. Yummy colors.
ReplyDeleteLove your ideas. Thanks so much for taking time to share with us!
ReplyDeleteI am way into the pendant. I have teenage girls who saw it and love it!
