Explosion Boxes are fun and quick to make for those unexpected gifts. This tutorial walks you through making a 2"x2" box you can use for small gifts, party favors, door prizes and Make-N-Takes.
INSTRUCTIONS:
For the bottom of the Explosion Box cut a 6"x6" square of card stock. Score every 2" in both directions. Next score each corner from the corner into the junction where the horizontal and vertical score lines bisect.
Cut the corners off, creating an eight-sided figure (similar to a stop sign). Fold on the score lines, flatten and stamp your images.
Fold the box bottom together.
To make the top (or lid), cut a 4"x4" piece of card stock and score it just shy of the 1" mark on all sides and fold. This will result in a small box in each corner.
Cut along the score lines on just one side of each corner, creating flaps. Adhere Sticky Strip and attach each flap to the side next to it, finishing the top (lid).
You now have a 2"x2" box that functions as a gift box, party favor box, or anything else you want it to be. Complete the box by inserting your gift and securing with a ribbon.
NOTE: You can make a 3"x3" box by cutting a 9" square of card stock and scoring it every 3". You will need to cut a 6" square of card stock for the top, scoring it just under the 1-1/2" mark on all sides.
You can make a 4"x4" box out of a 12"x12" piece of card stock, scoring it every 4". You will need to cute an 8" square of card stock for the top, scoring it just under the 2" mark on all sides.
I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial and wish you fun when you are making these cute little boxes.
